A local Sinn Féin TD says she is “angered” by the response she received to a Parliamentary Question on the North-South Interconnector.
Pauline Tully recently requested that Climate and Environment Minister Eamon Ryan review the possibility of undergrounding the project.
Deputy Tully noted that communities affected by the proposed Kildare-Meath grid upgrade are being consulted on an underground option.
Minister Ryan said a number of reviews have already been carried out into the project and all have found the underground option to be unsuitable.
He also said he does not intend ordering another review.
However, she says Minister Ryan’s response was “dismissive”, adding that the Minister underestimates the level of opposition to the over-grounding of the north-south interconnector.
