A local TD says delays in processing smear tests "must be addressed as a matter of urgency".
Fianna Fáil's Niamh Smyth has also called for "adequate resources to be put in place" after the results of 180 smear tests went out of date.
These smear tests should have gone for further examination to check if there were any pre-cancerous cells present, but they expired before this could be done.
The HSE says they expired because of covid restrictions and a huge demand on the CervicalCheck service.
Deputy Smyth told Northern Sound that she's asked the Health Minister to "deal with this in a timely fashion":
