The Taoiseach is standing by the Government's decision not to extend the eviction ban. Leo Varadkar says extending it would just push the problem further down the line.
Meanwhile, Cavan Monaghan Sinn Fein TD, Matt Carthy, has hit out at Government backbenchers for failing to attend the debate. He said the generation being denied homes will "kick them out" come the next election.
"The families who will be made homeless because of the decision this week are watching. And they will never forget; never will their children or their friends, or their neighbours, and neither will all those Irish people who value compassion, decency and fairness.
"They are watching and they are waiting for the chance to respond to those who are willing to make people homeless by kicking them out of this chamber," he added.
