Fianna Fail TD for Cavan-Monaghan Brendan Smith has "praised" emergency services and frontline workers for their handwork during Storm Éowyn. According to Deputy Smith, despite the "severe storm" all emergency services, local authorities, retail services and healthcare staff worked tirelessly to minimise the impact of the storm on people.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith also highlighted that storms of any nature have a "huge impact" on the farming community. As a result, Deputy Smith paid tribute to the farming community who he says ensured animal welfare was kept to a high standard and that all animals were fed regardless of the obstacles in their way. "There are so many people in different categories in the private and public sectors who are working hard to minimise the impact of the storm on people."
