A local TD says plans to cut the Pandemic Unemployment Payment from September 14th are "incoherent and ill-timed".
Sinn Féin's Pauline Tully has called for the €50 cut to the payment to be halted "until all sectors are open".
Deputy Tully says "the pandemic is not over as some sectors, such as the live entertainment industry, remain closed".
She added that the government is "ploughing ahead with unfair cuts to the PUP" in spite of this.
Speaking on The Wider View, the Sinn Féin TD said the PUP should remain at its current rate until all restrictions are lifted:
