There's "a lazy and ill-informed narrative" around farming and climate change according to a local TD.
Brendan Smith says farmers have adapted and modernised and called for supports for the sector.
He raised the issue in the Dáil with the Taoiseach in recent days and urged that the national co-financing commitments that were made would be honoured.
He also said the €1.5 billion allocated to the agri-food sector from the carbon tax would be paid.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said commitments made will be followed through on, something Deputy Smith has welcomed.
