Local TD Deputy Matt Carthy says he is very fearful for the future of The Nuremore Hotel & Country Club in Carrickmacross.
The Sinn Fein TD raised the issue of the hotel closure with Tourism Minister Catherine Martin in the Dail in recent days.
Deputy Carty said the popular tourism facility was a source of great pride to the people of Co Monaghan being a significant tourism and economic driver for the entire region.
He called on the Minister for Tourism to assist in getting the country club operating again highlighting the fact that it was a government scheme that had led to the hotel's closure
The Co Monaghan Hotel and Country Club closed its doors in early January and has not opened since going into receivership in May of this year.
The Carrickmacross native said that the Nuremore is currently a shameful sight but government have refused to act to ensure it is reopened without delay.
