A local TD is calling for a ring-fenced budget to allow day services for people with disabilites to fully re-open.
Pauline Tully, the Sinn Féin spokesperson on disability and carers, says that people with a disability are being discriminated against as their services haven’t be restored on par with similar services such as schools.
She says the current restrictions mean that capacity on transport and in day centres is significantly reduced with some people only receiving 2 days ‘if they’re lucky’, instead of 5 pre- Covid.
Deputy Tully stated that organisations are unsure if the additional costs associated with increased travel and staff requirements will be covered.
