A Cavan-Monaghan TD is calling on the government to significantly increase funding in the childcare sector.
Sinn Féin's Pauline Tully is seeking a restoration of the 100% wage subsidy scheme for childcare workers, as well as a two-thirds reduction in the cost of childcare fees over the course of the lifetime of the government.
Sinn Féin says it hopes to make childcare free at the point of use over the course of ten years.
The motion will be discussed tonight and brought before the Dáil on Thursday.
Pauline Tully told Shannonside Northern Sound that childcare fees are too high, while staff wages are too low:
