The Government need to implement their own commitments regarding disability services. That's according to local TD, Deputy Pauline Tully who is the Sinn Féin spokesperson on Disability and Carers. The Cavan Monaghan TD IS calling for improved supports and services for people with disabilities and carers.
She has called on the government to deliver on their own commitment in their "Programme for Government" and said while the Minister says the interdepartmental group is now being established to look at the scoping exercise carried out by the Department in moving towards ratification. The local TD says that sounds to her like "another delaying tactic".
She says that every week families are coming into her office concerned about the lack of services for their children. "They might be registered with a Children's Disability Network Team (CDNT) but they are getting no services whatsoever." Deputy Tully said. "Many of those children have not had any service or supports since 2018 or 2019 and they have had no more support since," she added.
