A local TD has called on a risk assessment to be carried out by the government following Storm Eowyn.
Deputy Cathy Bennett says the government needs to reflect on the impact of there ant-rural policies.
She made the calls in the Dail yesterday pointing to poor planning when it came to forestry and that rural Ireland was paying the price. The Sinn Fein TD said proper investment in our regions, particularly in the counties of the border was now needed ahead of other storms in the future.
Deputy Bennett says we should never again have a situation where people are denied water because water treatment plants do not have stand-by generators. Calling on a full a risk assessment, the local TD said those generators should be sourced and provided to every public and group water scheme right now.
