A Cavan TD has highlighted the importance of developing further education across the local region.
According to Deputy Brendan Smith, the broadening of courses through new facilities at Cavan Institute will create a demand for additional accommodation, adding that a "greater choice" of courses for students will be beneficial.
The new Education and Training Facility on the Dublin Road was officially opened by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris recently.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith said he was "glad" that accommodation on the Dublin Road was provided, however there is work yet to be done towards additional permanent accommodation on the Cathedral Road campus, where the college will be extended to provide for 1,000 students.
