A Monaghan guidance counsellor is encouraging students struggling with their mental health to reach out within the school community.
There have been a number of tragedies in the region recently and Gerry O'Reilly from St. Macartan's College says it has been a tough time for the young friends and family members left behind.
He says that all counsellors in secondary schools have access to lists of local and national support services and can direct students or just be a listening ear.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound he encouraged young people locally to speak to family or friends if they have been impacted by recent events:
