A local students nurse says that a ‘clap on the back’ won’t pay the bills.
This comes following a vote in the Dáil last night, which saw the Government vote against an opposition bill to reinstate payment to those on placement during the pandemic.
Michaela Faye is a final year psychiatric nurse from Bailieborough and she says all they want is a living wage as they can’t work their part-time jobs while on the frontline.
She says last night’s vote is hugely disheartening and working 35 hour weeks for no pay is not feasible.
