Sporting volunteers across Cavan and Monaghan region are set to receive nationwide recognition for their dedicated work at an awards ceremony next week.
The Federation of Irish Sport has announced the winners of the 2021 Volunteers in Sport Awards that celebrate the hard work and dedication of these volunteers.
In Co Cavan, Sean Smith will be awarded for his "unquestionable passion" for Crosserlough GFC over the course of more than four decades.
He has held the role of PRO twice, Treasurer twice, and Assistant Secretary. For the last 20 years, he has also been the caretaker of the club grounds, along with being the Lotto Coordinator and Kitman for many of the teams.
Elsewhere in the Northern Sound region, Brendan Lillis of Border Bounce Gymnastics Club will be honoured for ensuring that the club is an inclusive place for all.
His ethos is that every child should have the opportunity to take part in gymnastics whatever their background.
He is the central part of the club, liaising with other coaches and the committee, while coaching voluntarily himself as well as serving as the club’s treasurer and is truly an invaluable member of the club.
The Ulster awards will be streamed live on the Federation of Irish Sport’s Facebook page from 7 pm on Tuesday, December 7th.
