A local Sinn Féin TD has called on the Housing Minister to issue a review on HAP rates.
Pauline Tully says the current HAP rates "aren’t sufficient to meet people’s housing needs" and haven’t risen in tandem with rent increases.
Deputy Tully added that some people in the region, particularly single people, can’t afford rent with the current HAP rates and are finding themselves "under severe financial strain".
She told Shannonside Northern Sound that the Housing Minister has agreed to a review in the past and she hopes one will shortly be forthcoming:
