A Local Sinn Féin TD is calling for support on a maternity leave extension.
It was announced yesterday that there would be an additional 3 weeks paid leave for parents who had their children during the pandemic, however, TD Pauline Tully says this is not enough and wants an additional 12 weeks leave given.
She has urged all local TDs to support this motion stating that it is necessary because of the difficulties faced by new mothers in securing childcare and the anxiety felt about returning to work without appropriate arrangements in place.
This motion is due to be debated in the Dail this evening, with the vote scheduled for Thursday.
