Local Senators are among those to have been awarded expenses for April and May this year, despite the Seanad being closed at the time.
€240,000 was divided among 48 senators - with several Senators in the Shannonside Northern Sound region receiving more than €6,000 each.
In the Northern Sound region, Fianna Fáil Senators Diarmuid Wilson and Robbie Gallagher received €6,232 each, while Fine Gael's Joe O'Reilly received €6,065 over the two months.
Diarmuid Wilson and Robbie Gallagher have not responded to a request for comment from Shannonside Northern Sound, while Joe O'Reilly was unavailable.
Meanwhile, Shannonside Senator Micheál Carrigy of Fine Gael was awarded €6,065 - he says that the allowance includes a payment for attendance which must be returned if he does not attend all of the required days by the end of the year.
Fellow Fine Gael Senator Aisling Dolan is not included in this list as she was appointed by the Taoiseach at the end of June.
Elsewhere, Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy was awarded €6,232.
Senator Murphy told Shannonside Northern Sound that "it's untrue to say he was not active during April and May" and that it was "one of the busiest times for him in his political career so far".
He says he can give a full account of all clinics, meetings and expenses during that time and futher claims that he has saved the state around €20,000 because he had yet to appoint a secretary and his "family has done a lot of the work".
