A local Senator says the government was correct to extend emergency Covid powers until February of next year because case numbers remain stubbornly high.
They were due to end next week, but in a vote on Wednesday night, TDs backed a three-month extension by 82 votes to 44.
The legislation requires vaccine passports and face-masks to continue to be used in certain settings, and gives gardai enforcement powers.
