A local Senator says county council staff are being "forced" to transfer over to Irish Water.
Under proposed changes to the structure of the utility, the Government is examining how all operations can be brought into the organisations workforce.
Currently, Irish Water has an agreement which sees local authorities provide water services on the ground in each county.
Fianna Fail's Robbie Gallagher says that if staff are happy with the current agreement and targets are being met, then changes should be halted.
