A local Senator has called for a special debate to be held on government supports for men's sheds.
Men's sheds aim to improve the health and wellbeing of their members, but Robbie Gallagher warns that they're operating "hand to mouth".
Representatives from the men's sheds says they are under financial difficulty and are seeking ring-fenced funding from government of around €2,500 to €5,000 per shed.
They are also requesting that the government undertakes a national publicity campaign to alert people to the organisation.
