A local Senator has called for the process of setting up CCTV systems to be speeded up.
Robbie Gallagher raised the matter in the Seanad yesterday where he said there has been little progress in setting up the new CCTV system in Monaghan town in recent years.
A number of applications for such systems have been submitted for towns and villages across Cavan and Monaghan but problems with the process are regularly raised at Council and Joint Policing Committee meetings.
Concerns around data protection and GDPR legislation lead to may schemes being put on hold.
