A local senator is calling for funding for the planned upgrade of the N2 Castleblayney to Ardee Road to be made available as soon as possible.
The planned upgrade of the road has not progressed beyond the design phase, despite being initially announced four years ago.
According to the senator between 2017 and 2022, 16 people have lost their lives on the stretch of road between the two towns.
Senator Robbie Gallagher says the €600,000 announced earlier this year is less than the funding requested by Monaghan County Council and is not enough to allow the current phase to be completed.
The Monaghan Senator says this means the upgrade is in limbo with design works currently stopped.
Senator Gallagher is calling on the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan to release further funding now.
