A local Senator has called for an explanation as to why gardaí have yet to hand over documents relating to the Monaghan and Dublin Bombings.
The anniversary of the 1974 bombings is on Tuesday, and Robbie Gallagher says the families have been searching for answers for 48 years.
Speaking today in the Seanad, Senator Gallagher said we had “been pleading with the British government for years to hand over documents".
However, he said they are now fully co-operating with the investigation and it's "hugely disappointing" that gardaí have not handed over documents.
He says this is due to "the gardaí interpretation on whether this is called an 'investigation' or a 'review'".
Senator Gallagher says this "isn't good enough" and has called on the relevant Minister to come before the Seanad to explain "exactly what the problem is":
