Five local schools have been selected for a new programme to support cycling and walking infrastructure at schools.
The Safe Routes to School Programme hopes to create safer routes for walking and cycling to schools and to reduce traffic in communities where they're located.
Three schools in Monaghan are included, St Louis Girls NS and St Louis Infant School in Monaghan town and St Michael's NS in Corcaghan.
Two in Cavan are also included St Aidan's Comprehensive in Cootehill and St Mary's NS in Virginia.
Over 900 schools applied to the scheme across the country.
