The anticipation is building at the RDS Dublin, as later today, the winners of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition will be announced. Ahead of the ceremony, the judging panel will begin their final assessments of projects this morning, before beginning their last deliberations to decide the overall winner. Projects delved deep into the world of science, and explored areas such as living things, environmental awareness and care, energy forces and the make-up of materials. Projects by students from Coláiste Dún an Rí, Breifne College, Loreto College, St Bricin's College, and Virginia College in Co Cavan all qualified for the prestigious event. Meanwhile, students from Ballybay Community College, St Louis Secondary School and Largy College will all represent the Farney County.
Speaking ahead of this evening’s ceremony, Mari Cahalane, Head of the BTYSTE said: "The standard of entries this year was truly exceptional, and I don’t envy the judges choosing one winner from them all! Every project on display is a true testament to how bright the future of STEM is in Ireland, and that the exhibition is one of the leading events not just for schools, but for the wider industry in Europe. The students participating should be so proud of getting this far in the competition, and hope they get the chance to celebrate their achievements with new friends that they’ve made here this evening."
