A group of students from Loreto College in Cavan have progressed to the next stage of the popular 'Junk Kouture' fashion competition. The local group will now attend the regional finals which will be held in Dublin on the 5th of March. The talented group includes local students, Bláthnaid Smyth, Cass O'Reilly O'Donoghue, Rosemary Brady, Amelia White Lynch, Eimear McGrory and Ava Tierney. The groups fashion project is titled "Sirens Serenade."
Speaking to Northern Sound, Amelia praised the experience of being involved in the Junk Kouture competition so far. Amelia went on to encourage other students to "give it a go," adding that the experience can help young students like herself discover skills that you never you you had before.
Amelia explained; "I think other young people should be encouraged to get involved in the Junk Kouture competition and just really go for it and give it their best shot. It's important to have a good group behind you when getting involved, people who all want to participate. Getting this far was really unexpected for us and I think it's important when you get the opportunity to put your best effort into it when you can. There's a lot of enjoyment in it and you can discover skills that you never knew you had before." Locals can find out more about the Sirens Serenade project on Instagram and TikTok.
