There are plenty of runs and walks getting underway across the Northern Sound region today. It's hoped thousands will be raised for local charities through them.
In Cavan, the Cavan Christmas Dash 5k starts at 12pm from the Farnham Arms Hotel in Cavan Town, with all proceeds going to Cuan Cancer Care and Cavan Autism Parents Support. The GOAL Mile also gets underway in Ballyjamesduff at 1pm from Fay GAA Park on the Granard Road.
The Elaine Tate memorial 5k will start in Rockcorry for walkers at 11am, and runners at 11:30am in Dartrey Forest, with funds going to Cootehill cancer care, Ballybay cancer care, Rockcorry national school, and Rockcorry tidy towns.

Elsewhere in Monaghan, a Fun Run/Walk in aid of St Mary's Patients Comfort fund will start at St Mary's Hospital, Castleblayney at 11am with
refreshments afterwards. While a number of Goal Mile events are also taking place, with the Carrickmacross one getting underway at 11am from the Carrick Aces Running Track. The Monaghan Town GOAL mile starts from Beech Hill College at 12pm, and Castleblayney starts at 11am from Latton GAA Club. Oram will also host one at 11am from Oram Sarsfields GFC Lastly Cremartin Shamrocks are hosting their annual charity game, which will see married up against singles using the new GAA rules. Donations will go to Annyalla/Cremartin CFR group and Castleblayney Cancer Society.
