The road linking Old Cross Square to Monaghan Harps club grounds was officially renamed "Slí Ógie Uí Dhufaigh" (Ógie Ó Dufaigh Way) on Friday evening.
The 19-year-old died in a car accident while on his way home from captaining the Monaghan U20s team to victory against Donegal in the Ulster semi-final this time last year.
Cathaoirleach of Monaghan MD, Raymond Aughey performed the official duties on the night.
He said members were "honoured" to name the road after the much-loved youth:

Later, Dublin footballing legend Con O’Callaghan launched ‘Ómós d’Óige’, a book celebrating the life and times of Brendan Uí Dhufaigh that was written and compiled over the last 12 months by his father.
A plaque commemorating the Monaghan youth was also unveiled on the wall of the clubhouse.
