A local reverend is on a running mission to raise funds for a new defibrillator.

The Ballyjamesduff Church of Ireland Minister, Reverend Mark Smith, lost his Dad, to cardiac arrest in 2007.

Mark often wondered what would've happened if there had been a defibrillator on hand when his father became ill. While Ballyjamesduff already has a number of defibrillators, Reverend Mark is fundraising for one for "up the Grove".

To that end, he is running 25 kilometres from Ballyjamesduff to Ballymachugh, to Kildrumferton and back to Ballyjamesduff this Sunday and hopes people will support his cause by donating via an idonate page, on the parish Facebook page or by bucket collection on the day. Reverend Smith says the defibrillator is for all the community.
