Local Republican group wants the party to drop Sinn Féin name

The issued a statement to Northern Sound criticising their recent decision.

A  saying it’s another manifestation of Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael.

Republican Sinn Fein were responding to the decision by the party to drop their opposition to the Special Criminal Courts.

In a statement issued to Northern sound news the group, which is widely seen as the political wing of the continuity IRA , says this decision is merely to appease the media and make themselves more appealing to voters.

They say it is a clear attempt to enter into Government in the Republic of Ireland.

Republican Sinn Féin say this move is not a victory for Irish unity but rather will see the party accept the institutions of the State and have to act according to their rules, something they consider to be the opposite of a ‘revolutionary activity.

The group are calling on the party to drop the Sinn Féin name declaring that they have dragged name of Sinn Féin ‘through the mud’.

Concluding their statement they state that this most recent action is a slap in the face of all those who served sentences because of these ‘draconian laws and courts’.
