"The Government has constantly failed to show that they really understand the scale of the housing crisis." That's according to Cavan's Labour representative Liam Van Der Spek.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, the local representative described the current housing crisis as a "hostile situation" for many people, even those who aren't facing eviction.
Mr Van Der Spek believes that a "whole generation" feels "completely locked out" from being able to purchase a house and instead are spending "tremendous amounts" on rent just to get by.

He added that the biggest development to the standard of living in this country, would be if Government actually brought down the cost of both housing and rent.
