Cuan is working with the local service provider to progress the development of an 8-unit refuge in Cavan and Monaghan, a local Councillor has said.
Councillor Pauric Clerkin stated that Cuan is in continued engagement with relevant stakeholders in the region. Mr Clerkin also said it remains the Government's target to deliver a refuge in Cavan/Monaghan within the life of the strategy.
Cuan, the Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Agency has a dedicated team in place to support the development of domestic violence refuges and has been engaging with local service providers across the nine counties including Cavan and Monaghan.
This work is being carried out in line with the Zero Tolerance Strategy Implementation plan for 2024, with Cuan and the Department of Housing currently exploring models for the delivery of domestic violence refuge accommodation to accelerate delivery timelines.
