People across the Northern Sound region, especially vulnerable and elderly persons, have been reminded to request ID from unknown callers to their home.
The advice has been issued by Garda Lisa Stephens of Bailieborough Garda Station.
She says genuine persons, such as builders and tradesmen, will have no issue with producing ID when asked to do so.
Garda Stephens also warned people to never open their door if they are unsure of the identity of the caller, and advised people to request a visit from their local community garda if they need any more information.
