Pre-election claims that the government would deliver 40,000 homes last year now hangs like an albatross around the neck of government's credibility.
That's the charge made by Local TD Cathy Bennett who raised the issue of housing in the locality in the Dail yesterday.
She said the housing crisis permeates virtually every corner of Irish society.

The local TD pointed out that schools are unable to hire teachers. Gardai are unable to secure accommodation in communities that they serve in. Students have been abandoned, while renters and aspiring homeowners have been cast utterly adrift.
Deputy Bennett says the government have failed the people of Cavan and Monaghan when it comes to offering affordable housing.
