Over €1.5 million has been announced today for outdoor projects for Cavan and Monaghan.
Local Minister Heather Humphreys announced the funding for seven outdoor recreation projects across the Northern Sound region. Ballybay Wetlands, Gortnawhinny Lake in Clones, a new walking trail in Mullan and Dromore River Blueway are all set to benefit in Monaghan.
While include Killykeen Greenway, Crover Shore Lakeside and Slieve Rushen in Ballyconnell make up the local investment across both counties. Almost €500,000 is to be spent on a development of an 11km Blueway along the Dromore River from Lough Major in Ballybay.
The creation of a man-made beach and an upland walkway on the scenic Slieve Rushen in West Cavan are all planned as part of this €16 million national spend. Minister Humphreys says this is about making Cavan and Monaghan a more attractive place to live, work and visit.
