Local opposition is as “strong as ever before” in relation to the North South Interconnector. That’s according to Monaghan’s Paudge Connolly after Eirgrid CEO Mark Foley attended yesterday’s sitting of Monaghan County Council.
According to Cllr Connolly, from yesterday’s meeting it was “clear” that Eirgrid and local campaigners are still at “loggerheads” when it comes to the proposed installation of the North South Inter Connector.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Connolly warned that he can only see difficult times ahead for the region.
“I feel this situation in the very near future stepping up another notch or two. I can see difficulties arising within a short space of time. Eirgrid are talking about engaging with local landowners on this development, but I can only see there being difficult times ahead.”
