A nursing home in Co Monaghan has received a mixed report from HIQA inspectors. It comes following an unannounced inspection at the centre in March. The Mullinahinch House is a private nursing home which can accommodate a maximum of 52 residents. It is a mixed-gender facility for dependent persons over the age of 18, which provides 24-hour general nursing care for both long and short-time residents, such as respite, convalescence, palliative and end of life care. HIQA inspectors noted that there was a warm and happy atmosphere in the centre. Some residents who were consulted during the inspection expressed satisfaction and contentment living in the designated centre.
The HIQA report outlines a mostly compliant state of services at the nursing home, with experienced staff and the evidence that residents were happy in the centre among the most positive observations in the data provided. However, there were some substantial compliances detected in the cleaning practices at the centre. The report highlighted two non-compliances at the centre, such as the lack of heating in two bedrooms on the day of inspection. Overall, Mullinahinch House received thirteen compliances, five substantial compliances, and two non-compliances.
