A Co Cavan National School has been granted planning permission for works that will include the construction of four new classrooms.
The works at St Bridget's National School in Redhills will also involve the removal of prefabricated classrooms which were described as "interim developments" pending approval of the current project.
An extension to the existing school building will see the construction of three safe base classrooms, a central activity space, multi-sensory room, and toilet facilities.
Works to the existing building will also include the conversion of an existing GP room to a mainstream classroom, alongside a new service road and set down area.
The planning application says the "extension will go a long way to allow St Bridget's continue to support the needs of the local area".
