A Co Roscommon woman has arrived home in Ireland after her travel ban in Dubai was lifted yesterday. The 28 year old was accused of 'attempted suicide' and 'alcohol consumption after alleging her husband had beaten her. The Irish government intervened and she is now allowed to return home, with the charges against her also dropped. Irish Embassy staff put Tori on an Emirates flight early this morning, with the flight landing in Dublin just after 12. Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys says women can be treated differently in Dubai.
"I'm just glad Tori Towey has got approval to come back to Ireland," explained the local Minister. "It was absolutely horrific what happened to that woman. It doesn't bare thinking about. She gets beaten up and instead of going to a hospital they send her to a prison."
