Stormont leaders are playing down reports that a deal has been struck on the Northern Ireland Protocol. The British Prime Minister has been meeting with parties on the outskirts of Belfast. More high level talks will take this weekend between London and Brussels.
Local Minister Heather Humphreys says that its a very encouraging sign to see Rishi Sunak in Belfast today. Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister Humphries said; "It's very important that we find a solution to the longstanding problem of the Northern Ireland Protocol.
"It's encouraging to see that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is in Northern Ireland this morning. Hopefully there will be an agreement but of course we have to wait and see. I know that everyone wants to work hard to find a solution at this stage."
Meanwhile, Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald says it appears to be "game on", when it comes to attempts to reach a deal on the Northern Ireland Protocol. Sinn Fein's Mary Lou Mc Donald says she wants to see the discussions conclude as "quickly as possible."
