The government is committed to the N2 Clontibret to the Border Scheme.
That's according to local Minister Heather Humphreys, who says the scheme "is progressing but not as quickly as we would like".
Monaghan councillors were recently informed that the Council had suspended its contract with consultants for the N2 Clontibret to the Border scheme.
Councillor PJ O'Hanlon said he was extremely frustrated by the suspension and added that road projects like these are essential to North-South relationships.
The N2 Clontibret to the Border scheme is due to feed into the A5 Western Transport Corridor.
