Local Minister Heather Humphreys says supports will be put in place for workers that are set to be laid off from Lakeland Dairies in Monaghan.
The company announced on Wednesday evening plans to shut three sites, with two in Monaghan and the third in Co Down.
It expects about 78 jobs to be impacted and has begun a consultation process with unions.
Minister Heather Humphreys says the news is "deeply disappointing," and says the announcement is a major blow for the northern sound region.
The Social Protection Minister says that her department will stand ready to help the employees and do whatever is needed to assist them through this difficult period.
