Sinn Fein is to table a no-confidence motion in Justice Minister Helen McEntee next week. Mary Lou McDonald says the country can't have a Justice Minister who "refuses to acknowledge the political failures that allowed our communities to become unsafe." Minister McEntee has faced calls to resign from her position since last week's riots in Dublin following a mass stabbing in the city centre.
Despite this, Minister Heather Humphreys said that she is "not surprised" by the stance taken today by Sinn Fein. She described it as "political point scoring" that will "achieve nothing". Minister Humphreys went on to describe Sinn Fein's party leader as "deluded" over her comments about Justice Minister - Helen McEntee.
"This is an absolute distraction, there's no doubt about that," explained Minister Humphreys. "We need to be focusing on other things in the Dáil."
