Midlands and North West MEP. Chris McManus is hosting a public meeting entitled 'Protecting Irish Family Farmers' in Cootehill tonight. The event takes place in the Errigal Hotel at 8pm and will include local farming representatives as well as Deputy Pauline Tully and Deputy Matt Carthy.
The local MEP says that agriculture is the backbone of rural Ireland and farmers and food producers must be supported. He added that farm families are feeling the most pressure at the moment.
"I know from engaging with farming families and farming organisations that farming families are under pressure. And, that is happening because of different issues that have happened over the last 12 months," Mr McManus said.
