The Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD is to send a letter of congratulations to Joe McCabe and all involved with a book on Carrickmacross native Dan McGovern.
Local author Joe McCabe undertook 20 years of research after initially meeting and interviewing Dan McGovern when he returned to Carrickmacross in 1999.
The book, called 'Rebels to Reels', charts the life of Dan McGovern, who was one of the first on the ground to film the Hiroshima and Nagasaki aftermaths.
It was released last weekend, and MD Cathaoirleach Aidan Campbell proposed sending a letter to all involved for this "fantastic story" that will "entice people with roots back to the area".
Colm Carthy also congratulated all involved and said it "could be a tool to encourage more tourism".
Meanwhile, Noel Keelan commended the "library service for stepping up" and added that the story "really taps into Irish diaspora".
