"Every day you learn something new about Patrick Kavanagh." That’s according to Darren McCreesh who is manager of the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen. Darren will feature on tonight’s 'Tracks & Trails' programme on RTE 1 at 7.30pm. Speaking to Northern Sound ahead of the show, Darren said it was a “wonderful” opportunity to be involved in something that will bring national attention to Co Monaghan and the much-loved Kavanagh Centre. Tonight’s programme will also showcase others parts of the county through its focus on the ‘Monaghan Way’ walking route. Highlighting the importance of poetry and physical exercise, Darren says Kavanagh’s poetry offers consultation to people who want to take time out of their busy lives.
"It's important to be at peace with yourself when engaging with nature," Darren explained. "Kavanagh’s poetry offers consultation to people who want to take time out of their busy lives. There’s nothing better than thinking about poetry while walking. It gives you a chance to set your thoughts on the landscape, your life and helps remind you of the glory of day to day life.
