"The two things most important to older people are mobility and independence." That's according to Seamus McDermott who is the Chairperson of the Monaghan Older People's Council.
The Monaghan native was on this morning's Joe Finnegan show sharing his concerns in relation to online scammers and the rising rate of fraud.
Seamus expressed his concerns also in relation to purchasing a bus ticket online to secure a seat, particularly for a journey to the likes of Dublin for hospital appointments.
Seamus feels the older generation have been left behind when it comes to keeping up with technology through banking, accessing services and avoiding scammers.
But despite this, he also feels that asking questions and relying on others for help "compromises" the independence of an older person. This is something which he says is - "very important."
