A former solicitor from Monaghan has been chosen for a leading role at the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone. A Tyholland native, John McGlynn, became manager of the popular venue at the start of this year.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the father-of-four revealed that he has "big ambitions" for the theatre with a busy calendar of events promised for 2024. The Monaghan native said he wanted to be involved in promoting the theatre on a daily basis and when the offer came up he just simply could not turn the opportunity down. John went on to explain what he wants hopes the theatre will achieve during in tenure.
"With regards to the theatre itself, I want to see as many people as possible coming through the door and for different reasons," he explained. "We have a staple calendar here but I want to get more in, thankfully because we're such a central location we have lots of nationally recognised acts who appear here and from my point of view I want to see as many of those acts as possible performing on the Dean Crowe stage."
