Applications for the Local Improvement Scheme in Cavan will be assessed in "strictly chronological order".
That's the message that was delivered at this month's County Council meeting.
Councillor Shane P Reilly said lanes that have people living on them should take precedence, while Sarah O'Reilly said lanes belonging to elderly and vulnerable people should be done first.
Director of Services for Roads and Infrastructure, Paddy Connaughton, told councillors that LIS applications are assessed chronologically.
Meanwhile, Peter McVitty asked the Executive to "put as much pressure as possible on the Department to get LIS funding as soon as possible".
There are currently 242 applications to the scheme in Co Cavan, 128 of which are unassessed, and Councillor McVitty says funding should "come early in the year so that work can be done at a good time".
